February 19, 2016

LEXINGTON, SC – The Greater Lexington Chamber & Visitors Center announced that Otis B. Rawl, Jr. has been named president and CEO, effective February 29, 2016.

Prior to joining the Greater Lexington Chamber, Rawl served as president and CEO of the South Carolina Chamber of Commerce from October 2008 until the end of 2014. Rawl joined the SC Chamber in 2001 as vice president of public policy and was named chief operating officer in 2008. Rawl has been in charge of the Chamber’s overall operations including public policy, legislative affairs, work force development, administration, membership, and communications.

“Otis’ background and experience made him the ideal candidate for our Chamber,” said Marvin Robinson, VP, business relationship manager of Wells Fargo, Lexington and 2015-16 chair of the Greater Lexington Chamber. “His impact on the Chamber and our members will be immediate and powerful.”

Before his career with the SC Chamber, Rawl worked with the SC Department of Revenue for more than 20 years.

In addition to his work at the Department of Revenue, Rawl served a six-month term with the SC State Treasurer’s Office performing legislative work on several major tax bills and local reporting of debt limits. He was also appointed chief of staff of the SC Department of Public Safety by the governor in 1995.

Rawl, a native of Lexington, graduated from the University of South Carolina with a Bachelor of Arts from the School of Government and International Studies.
