Green Building Council of Greater Columbia Certifies Eight New Homes in Local Green Building Program
January 12, 2009COLUMBIA, SC – January 12, 2009 – The Green Building Council of Greater Columbia is pleased to announce the green certification of eight homes in the Build Green Greater Columbia (BGGC) program. Through this local program, the Green Building Council of Greater Columbia is pleased to provide objective, third-party assessment, verification and certification services to help builders receive market recognition for building environmentally-responsible homes, and to help consumers find green-built houses in our market.
The first eight certified homes are located throughout the greater Columbia area and were built by seven different companies. They are:
– A log home in Leesville built by Carolina Log Center
– A home in Lexington built by Paradime Construction, Inc.
– A home in Gilbert built by Mark Bostic, CGP of Square One Design Service
– Homes in the Saluda River Club in Lexington built by Capital Construction, LLC, Dunbar Builders, Inc. and Vesta Builders Inc., and
– Two houses built in Columbia by Inspired Communities
“The Green Building Council of Greater Columbia is just over a year old and our members are already producing homes to this higher standard of construction,” remarked council Chairman Mike Lowman. “These companies, along with the other members of the council, have really embraced the program and we look forward to certifying more homes in the near future.”
The Build Green Greater Columbia program is administered by the Green Building Council of Greater Columbia, which is a council of the Home Builders Association of Greater Columbia Green Building Council of Greater Columbia Certifies Eight Green Homes and is affiliated with the National Association of Home Builders’ (NAHB) Green building program. Homes in the program are third-party verified to ensure that they meet the criteria as outlined. There are three levels of certification in the Build Green Greater Columbia program: Bronze, Silver and Gold. Homes that are certified in the program are listed on the Council website at www.columbiagreenbuilders.com and are marked with the Build Green Greater Columbia logo on the main electrical panel box door.
