Greenlink to Expand Bike Locker Rental Program

July 15, 2014

GREENVILLE, SC – Greenlink has obtained funding to expand its bike locker rental program and is asking area residents to weigh in on where additional BikeLids should be installed.

Greenlink launched its bike locker rental program in 2012 with the installation of four BikeLids – two along Richardson Street outside the Greenlink Transfer Center and two inside the Spring Street Garage downtown. Funding exists for up to 22 additional bike lockers, and Greenlink officials are asking potential renters to complete a brief online survey about their location preferences. Those interested in completing the bike locker rental survey can visit www.RideGreenlink.com and click on Bike Lockers in the left-hand column.

“We have maintained a waiting list for the personal bike lockers almost from the time the first BikeLids were installed,” said Greenlink Manager of Administration Greg Baney. “We’re happy to be able to expand the program, and to further our goal of enhancing multimodal transit for a growing community.”

Each BikeLid comes equipped with an individually keyed lock, giving access to the renter alone. Specially weighted and hinged lids open easily, making bike storage simple and convenient. Rental terms are six months for $50, with a refundable key deposit of $35.

Greenlink provides fixed route transportation services Monday through Saturday in the city of Greenville and throughout Greenville County, and operates a daily connector to Clemson University and a CU-ICAR/St. Francis Shuttle on weekdays. The system also features Greenville Area Paratransit (GAP), an ADA service provided for disabled individuals who are unable to use Greenlink’s fixed route bus service.
