Greenville’s Poinsett Club named “Platinum Club of America”

January 24, 2019

Club Leaders Forum, the premier consulting source of the private club industry – recently announced that The Poinsett Club, one of the Greenville area’s oldest and most recognizable clubs, has again been named a “Platinum Club of America.”

Recognizing the top 5% of clubs in each category (Country Clubs, Golf Clubs, City Clubs, Athletic Clubs, and Yacht Clubs) in the private club industry, this award is the equivalent of the “Mobil Five-Star” designation for hotels and resorts.

Of the 1000 City Clubs in the United States, only 50 are selected for the “Platinum Club of America” designation. The Poinsett Club is the only South Carolina city club to make the list.

Rankings are awarded every two years, and this marks the seventh consecutive period that the Poinsett Club earned this designation.

According to Brent Reeder, the Poinsett Club’s general manager, “The Poinsett Club was elected as a Platinum Club of America by a vote of more than 3,100 of our peers in the private club industry – specifically the general managers and presidents of each club. Our two best assets are our staff and our members. Together, they continue building a club that others want to emulate.”

“The Poinsett Club has long been a hub of social and business activity in Greenville, but it’s also a club that has established itself nationally. Our home on the edge of one of the most popular downtown areas in the country allows us to enjoy Greenville’s evolution while also highlighting tradition and those things that make the club unique,” added 2018 Poinsett Club Board of Governors president Mac McLean.
