Greenville’s Poinsett Club Named “Platinum Club of America”

September 17, 2014

GREENVILLE, SC – The Poinsett Club, one of the Greenville area’s oldest and most recognizable clubs, has again been named a “Platinum Club of America.”

In the private club industry, this award is the equivalent of the “Mobil Five-Star” designation for hotels and resorts.

Board members were excited to receive the recognition not just because the club received the award, but because of what the award means to Greenville.

It recognizes Greenville’s Poinsett Club as one of the top 50 city/dining clubs in the United States and is the only city/dining club in South Carolina to make the list.

Another reason board and club members view this recognition as being so special to the area is that this marks the fourth consecutive period (Rankings are awarded every three years.) that the club earned this designation – first under the late Warren Arseneaux, the club’s former general manager, and three times under the club’s current manager Brent Reeder.

According to Reeder, “When you look at the list of honorees, you see historic clubs in much larger markets like Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, New York, Chicago, and Washington, DC. The Greenville community prides itself on excelling to the same level as larger markets, but we work to do it with our own brand of hospitality, and it pays off.”

“While this award is a testament to our club’s members who remain active in planning the club’s future, it also honors Poinsett Club staff and management for their professionalism and excellence,” added 2014 Poinsett Club Board of Governors president Mark Crocker. “There’s a reason the Poinsett Club has remained a hub of business, social, and philanthropic activity since 1935, and this highlights why.”
