Greenville attorney Anne Ellefson to lead SC Bar

COLUMBIA, SC – Greenville attorney Anne Ellefson will be installed as the 2015-16 president of the South Carolina Bar on Thursday, May 14, during the Bar’s House of Delegates meeting at the USC School of Medicine in Greenville. SC Supreme Court Chief Justice Jean H. Toal will administer the oath of office, and Ellefson will address the House on initiatives for the coming year.

Screen Shot 2015-05-11 at 3.03.44 PMEllefson is Deputy General Counsel for Academics and Community Affairs for Greenville Health System. Prior to this role she practiced law with Haynsworth Sinkler Boyd, PA from 1979 to 2013, serving as managing director from 2008 to 2013.

Ellefson earned her juris doctor from the University of South Carolina School of Law. She received the law school’s Compleat Lawyer Award in 2008 and while in private practice was recommended by Chambers USA, Best Lawyers in America and South Carolina Super Lawyers.

Ellefson has served in the Bar’s House of Delegates since 1992 and on the Board of Governors since 2007. She previously served as president of the South Carolina Bar Foundation and chair of the Bar’s Real Estate Practices Section Council. She is also a member of the Greenville County Bar and Haynsworth Perry Inn of Court and is a fellow of the American Bar Association.

Ellefson serves the community as well as the legal profession. She has previously served as chair of the board of directors of the Greenville Chamber of Commerce and the United Way of Greenville County. She also served on the board of directors of the SC Chamber of Commerce, United Ministries of Greenville, Southern First Bank, Greenville Local Development Corp. and SC ETV Endowment, on the board of visitors of University Center of Greenville, the board of governors of the USC Alumni Association and the board of directors of the Community Planning Council of Greenville. She is a graduate of the Leadership Greenville Class XVI and the Diversity Leaders Initiative of The Riley Institute at Furman University.
