Greenville conservative leaders backing Timmons in Congressional race
June 18, 2018A wide array of Greenville conservative political leaders have publicly endorsed William Timmons in the GOP Primary for the Fourth Congressional District on June 26th.
This impressive list of leaders includes Greenville Mayor Knox White; Greenville City Council members Amy Ryberg Doyle, Wil Brasington and George Fletcher; County Council Chairman Butch Kirven as well as members Mike Barnes, Rick Roberts and Fred Payne; State House members Bruce Bannister, Jason Elliott, Phyllis Henderson, Garry Smith; State Senators Scott Talley and Ross Turner; and former Attorney General Candidate William Herlong.
The group cited Timmons’ proven leadership as an advocate for conservative values, cutting government waste, and listening to the people as key reasons for their endorsements.
“When it comes to being a leader for the Upstate, the clear choice is William Timmons,” Rep. Bannister said.
Mayor White said Timmons has shown repeatedly that he will bring fresh, new ideas and be accountable to the citizens he serves. As a former prosecutor, successful businessman, and ethics watchdog in the State Senate, Timmons is the only candidate prepared to continue Trey Gowdy’s legacy of transforming government.
“William Timmons is the person we need to help keep our Greenville and the Upstate moving forward,” White said.
Timmons said he is thankful for the endorsements, but his real goal is to get the endorsement of the majority of voters on June 26th and beyond.
“This campaign isn’t about me. It is about fighting for the rights and values of the people of this district,” Timmons said. “I will be their voice in Washington. I want to show the people of the Upstate that we can make a positive difference.”
