Greenville Housing Fund Receives South Carolina Community Economic Development Award

GREENVILLE, SC – October 26, 2010 – The South Carolina Association of Community Development Corporations (SCACDC) has awarded the Greenville Housing Fund (GHF) the Eagle Award of Excellence in Community Economic Development. GHF along with two other South Carolina community development corporations (CDCs) received the Eagle Award for their excellence in advancing economic development in some of the state’s most distressed communities.

The Eagle Award of Excellence in Community Economic Development was presented to Deborah McKetty, GHF’s Executive Director and Chandra Dillard, GHF Board member and SC State House Representative at the South Carolina Community Economic Development Conference.

SCACDC is a state-wide trade association of non-profit, community-based development corporations that promotes development in communities that are left out of the state’s economic mainstream. The Eagle Award recognizes GHF as having a similar mission to SCACDC to raise the quality of life for low-wealth families and communities by advancing the community economic development industry with GHF’s special emphasis on housing in Greenville County.

The Greenville Housing Fund (GHF) is a non-profit organization established in 2008 to provide for an increase in the availability of affordable housing in Greenville County. GHF offers a variety of assistance programs including: deferred payment loans; low- or no-interest amortizing loans; grants of forgivable loans; down payment and closing costs; owner-occupied rehabilitation loans; and emergency home repair. GHF acts as the administrator for the Greenville Individual Development Accounts (IDA) Network that provides services for low and moderate income individuals and families to build financial literacy and independence, secure assets and to successfully deposit savings in matched IDA savings accounts.
