October 7, 2015

GREENVILLE, SC – Chief Ken Miller has announced that 10 officers (including one sergeant and one lieutenant) from the Greenville Police Department (GPD) are traveling to Columbia today to provide supplemental law enforcement services to the Columbia Police Department, as officials there continue recovery and relief efforts. The Columbia Police Department requested the officers as part of a law enforcement mutual aid agreement, and the GPD officers are expected to remain in Columbia until Saturday to provide additional protection in residential areas of the city. Under the agreement, GPD officers will have all the powers and authority of a law enforcement officer employed by the Columbia Police Department, including the power of arrest.
