Greenville Rec Polar Plunge Returns February 21 to Support Special Olympics South Carolina

January 21, 2026

With just one month to go, excitement is building for the Greenville Rec Polar Plunge, set for Saturday, February 21, 2026, at 7th Inning Splash Waterpark. The annual event invites the community to get “Freezin’ for a Reason” in support of the athletes of Special Olympics South Carolina.

Participants and supporters alike are rallying behind an ambitious fundraising goal of $25,000, with $10,905 already raised—putting the effort nearly halfway to the finish line. All funds raised stay in South Carolina and directly support year-round sports training, athletic competitions, and health screenings for children and adults with intellectual disabilities.

Those who are brave enough will take the plunge into icy water, but organizers stress that getting wet is not the only way to make an impact. Community members who prefer to stay warm can participate as Virtual Plungers or Dry-Land Donors, supporting the cause without ever stepping into the cold.

Whether plunging into the water or donating from dry land, every contribution helps strengthen programs that empower Special Olympics athletes across the state.
