GREENVILLE, SC – May 25, 2012 – Greenville Tech’s Child Development Center has been selected by the University of South Carolina Child Development Research Center to participate in an online developmental screening program.

Child care centers throughout South Carolina will participate to determine whether the children in their care are developing properly. Benefits of the online screening program include early identification of children who may need additional support and services to maximize development and learning, facilitation of meaningful communication between teachers and families, and
information that helps teachers make informed decisions regarding curriculum strategies to support learning and development.

The effort relies on an Ages and Stages Questionnaire (ASQ) Assessment used assess children for delays.  The assessment, when used as prescribed every 2-4 months, allows for children to get the early intervention they need to develop appropriately.

The assessment tests all developmental areas of growth and development for newborns through 60 months (5-year olds).Greenville Tech¹s Child Development Center is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). The center was established to provide a training ground/lab school setting for Greenville Technical College students enrolled in the Early Care and Education program,
while providing quality child care for children six weeks through five years of age.
