Greenville Track Club announces winner of TD Bank Reedy River Run T-Shirt Design Contest

March 5, 2018

The Greenville Track Club announced the winner of the TD Bank Reedy River Run T-Shirt Contest. Himesh Patel of Simpsonville, SC, received the largest number of online votes for his t-shirt design during the voting period, which ran from February 5 through February 20, 2018.

The t-shirt design contest was created in an effort to engage the local community, by connecting with artists and the running community at large. A panel of judges selected the five finalists and online voting awarded the final t-shirt design to Patel. Patel will receive $300, six commemorative t-shirts and an entry into the 2018 TD Bank Reedy River Run events for the winning design.

“We were thrilled with the artist’s submissions for the TD Bank Reedy River Run t-shirt design contest,” said Mike Caldwell, Race Director. “Patel’s winning design brings a new visual element to the t-shirt design and enhances the overall connection to the community with a local artist’s work incorporated into the t-shirts.”

The race, which is presented by The Greenville News, will be held Saturday, April 21, 2018 in downtown Greenville. This marks the 41st anniversary of the race and is expected to host more than 3,500 runners. The TD Bank Reedy River Run is one of the oldest, signature road races in the south and continues to be one of the Upstate’s premier running events.

The race routes for both the 10K and 5K will once again begin and end on Main Street and highlight picturesque downtown Greenville. A Post-Race Festival, which will take place at the TD Stage at the Peace Center, will include an awards presentation, music, food and vendors.

About the Reedy River Run

In the early 1970s, a group of influential business leaders approached the Greenville Track Club to establish a race highlighting the development of Cleveland Park and the creation of Heritage Green, as well as various other public efforts to enhance downtown Greenville’s overall appeal. In 1977, the Greenville Track Club approved the plans for the Reedy River Run, and during its first year, it was a featured 10K event on the Racing South Magazine Road Racing Circuit. The race is part of the Running Journal Grand Prix and was the 2002 USA Track & Field South Carolina 10K Championship. The 10K and 5K races are also USA Track & Field certified courses and sanctioned by the Road Runners Club of America. TD Bank, America’s Most Convenient Bank®, has been the title sponsor of the race for more than 15 years.
