Greenville Women Giving adjusts 2020-2021 granting parameters in response to COVID-19

October 12, 2020

In response to the immense challenges continuing to face non-profits during the pandemic, Greenville Women Giving has announced it has adjusted the size and scope of its 2020-2021 grants. Recognizing that the immediate need of most local non-profits is sustainability, Greenville Women Giving’s grants this year will be in the amount of $50,000 and for a term of one year.

In a departure from its typical granting focus, this year’s GWG grant funding may be used to support the core mission of organizations that provide essential services in the Greenville community. Core Mission grants may be used to support/expand services, for operations, program development, capacity, and to improve effectiveness/efficiency. Through this adjustment, Greenville Women Giving hopes to provide non-profits the flexibility to meet the financial strains of increased demand for services coupled with the shortfall of donations and volunteers.

“Our goal is to support non-profits that are working on high impact areas of need,” says GWG Co-Chair Susan Cinquemani. “COVID-19 has created so many overwhelming needs throughout our community that we knew the highest impact we could have was to create more opportunities for more non-profits to support more people.”

The application for Greenville Women Giving’s 2020-2021 grants will be available beginning November 1 and will be accepted through November 27. A Grant Application Information Session will be available for viewing online beginning October 29. Grant guidelines, the information session and online application may be found at: https://www.greenvillewomengiving.org/grants/

Greenville Women Giving remains committed to awarding at least one grant in each of the five funding areas (Arts, Environment, Education, Health, Human Services) and to its founding principle of one woman, one vote.
