Greenville Women Giving awards $81.3K grant to GCM
May 12, 2014GREER, SC – Greenville Women Giving awarded an $81.3K grant to Greer Community Ministries (GCM) at their annual meeting held on May 7 at the Gunter Theatre in Greenville. This generous grant will provide GCM funds for a major renovation of its kitchen operations, including HVAC and lighting.
The grant will fully fund a project to update a kitchen facility that prepares over 83,000 meals annually in the nonprofit organization’s Meals on Wheels and Senior Dining programs. Aged and obsolete kitchen equipment will be replaced, and HVAC and lighting systems will be upgraded to energy efficient systems.
The kitchen has not been updated since its 1996 installation. The tilt kettle and dishwasher need to be replaced, as well several smaller appliances. The upgrades will provide reliability, increased operational efficiency and energy savings.
“We are so grateful to Greenville Women Giving for granting funds for this project,” stated Cindy Simpler, GCM’s Executive Director. “This grant will have positive and lasting impact on our operations, providing true remedies and not just band aids to problems that come with aging systems. Their gift is one that will keep on giving for many years to come.”
Greer Community Ministries has been feeding and clothing people in the Greater Greer area for over 40 years.
