Greenville Women Giving opens 2019 grant application process

August 22, 2018

Greenville Women Giving (GWG), a women’s collective philanthropic organization that serves Greenville County, will begin accepting grant applications online on October 15, 2018.

GWG seeks to fund worthy projects that have the potential for high impact and significant positive change in the areas of:  Arts and Culture, Education, Environment, Health, and Human Services. Funds available for grants are generated by the annual donations of GWG members and other donor-directed funds through the Community Foundation.  Grants are awarded once per year based on the cumulative voting of all current GWG members.

GWG welcomes grant requests from 501(c)3 tax-exempt non-profit agencies located within or offering services to the citizens of Greenville County.  GWG members believe that a strong community requires strong programs and services across a variety of sectors.  Therefore, GWG will award at least one grant in each of the five focus areas listed above. The remainder of the applications will be ranked and grants awarded accordingly with all remaining funds.  Grant sizes range from $50,000 to $100,000. In May 2018, GWG awarded over $601,745 to 8 local, non-profit organizations.

Applications will become available on-line at www.greenvillewomengiving.org  on October 15, 2018.  The application deadline is November 30, 2018 at midnight. Voting by GWG members will take place in April and the 2019 grant winners will be revealed at the Annual Celebration on May 14, 2019.

Grant guidelines, application instructions and frequently asked questions are all available on the GWG website, along with the online application. Both new and returning grant applicants are encouraged to attend one of two GWG Grant Information Sessions to learn more about this year’s grant application process and address specific questions about their application. Sessions will be held at the Greenville Memorial Hospital Medical Staff Auditorium on November 1, 2018 from 9:00 to 10:30 and again from 11:30 to 1:00. Registration is required; call Melanie at 864-361-1393 or register online at [email protected].
