Greenwood Communities & Resorts Names New President and Announces Multiple Promotions and Additions

GREENWOOD, SC – February 6, 2013 – Greenwood Communities and Resorts, the Greenwood-S.C.-based company, which builds and manages residential and resort communities like Palmetto Dunes Oceanfront Resort on Hilton Head Island, The Ponds community in Summerville, The Reserve at Lake Keowee and Big Canoe near Atlanta, recently named a new president, promoted several employees and added a new staff member.
Bubba Self, who has been with Greenwood since 1996 and is part of the Self family who founded the company, will take the helm as president and COO. He most recently served as CFO for the company, but has held other roles, such as assistant vice president of amenities, vice president of club operations and vice president of financial operations. Self holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Furman University and an MBA from the University of South Carolina.

Brad Marra, formerly director of sports, recreation and merchandising at Palmetto Dunes, is now assistant vice president, resort operations forGreenwood. In this role Marra will oversee all operations at Palmetto Dunes Oceanfront Resort, including golf, tennis, outfitters and the marina. Marra has held several positions at Palmetto Dunes since 2004, including director of golf and manager of operations for the Robert Trent Jones golf course at Palmetto Dunes. Marra holds a bachelor’s degree in sports management from Georgia Southern University.
Jennifer Manzanera, who joined Greenwood in 2007, has been promoted to assistant vice president, human resources. Manzanera was previously director of human resources, and prior to working at Greenwood, she served as human resources director for two large physician groups. She holds a bachelor’s degree in human resources from Miami University of Ohio and an MBA from the University of Phoenix, as well as her SPHR (Senior Professional in Human Resources) certification.
Finally, Thomas Self, also a member of the founding Self family, has joined the company as vice president, controller. Self is a certified public accountant and member of the South Carolina Bar Association. He holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Furman University, as well as a Juris Doctor and master’s degree in accountancy from the University of South Carolina. He previously worked for Elliott Davis, one of the Southeast’s largest accounting firms, in their real estate department.
