GSHRM wins prestigious 2021 Pinnacle Award for Workplace Impact
November 15, 2021The Greenville chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management (GSHRM) has received the nation’s highest HR industry honor for a program it created to ease the transition of Veterans from military service to civilian careers.
GSHRM was officially presented with the 2021 Pinnacle Award for Workplace Impact during SHRM’s Volunteer Leaders Business Meeting held virtually on November 11. GSHRM is the first chapter in history to receive a Pinnacle Award for Workplace Impact.
GSHRM President Leanne Fuller said, “GSHRM is thrilled to receive this Pinnacle Award. The core team that developed this program is made up of exceptional HR professionals and military Vets who put a tremendous amount of thought, creativity, hard work, and compassion into the project. Their leadership and innovation are helping GSHRM live up to our association’s motto of creating better workplaces for a better world.”
The program that earned GSHRM the award is “Cracking the Code: HR Intel on Civilian Employment.” It is a one-of-a-kind program for military Veterans that gives them a behind-the-curtain view of what it takes to successfully transition into the civilian workplace. It was developed by local GSHRM-affiliated military Veterans and civilian HR professionals to provide a comprehensive look at best practices, starting with the job search and networking and continuing through the first year of employment.
Beginning January 1, all SHRM chapters around the world may begin adopting Cracking the Code for their use.
“To successfully re-envision the future of work, HR must be instrumental in creating and implementing strategies to engage untapped talent pools,” said SHRM President and CEO, Johnny C. Taylor, Jr., SHRM-SCP. “I commend Greenville SHRM and its members for adopting these principles and showcasing their commitment to attracting, hiring and retaining veterans as they transition from the military to civilian careers.”
Selected from 70 applications, GSHRM received a $2,500 prize given by Raymond James, the sponsor of this year’s Pinnacle Awards.
