Guy Furay kicks off campaign for the Fourth Congressional District

American Party Congressional candidate Guy Furay will be holding a campaign kickoff event on Wednesday, August 22 from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Cannon Center.
A respected Upstate business and community leader, Furay decided to run as a third-party candidate for the Fourth Congressional District because he believes it is time that voters get a real opportunity to break away from the two-party system that has caused the political divide.
“For years, Americans have been left with making the choice between candidates they don’t feel strongly about in November. If they have a choice out at all,” Furay said. “That has got to stop. We need a voice for the people that actually stands up for them, not the establishment.”
The American Party was formed in 2014 to present a centrist alternative to the current divided party system, and its state leadership is made up of former Republican and Democratic Party officials.
Furay not only believes in being a “listen first” candidate for the people of the Fourth District, but is also determined to bring leadership, consensus building and hard work back to Congress. A few principles of Furay’s campaign are fixing the broken healthcare system, setting term limits and making sure to put “people over party.”

A graduate of the University of Missouri, Furay began his insurance career in 1997 with BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina. Furay earned the FLMI (Fellow, Life Management Institute) and GBA (Group Benefits Associate) designations. He also completed four of the eight graduate level courses to earn the CEBS (Certified Employee Benefit Specialist) designation at the Wharton School of Business of the University of Pennsylvania. Since 2005, he has been the owner and president of The Insurance Source, an independent insurance agency serving the Upstate.
In the past few years, he has been recognized as one of Healthcare.gov’s Elite Circle of Champions; a three time winner of the Soaring Eagle Award from National Association of Health Underwriters; a current member of Leadership Greer, a graduate of the Greenville Chamber Advanced Political Leadership program; a graduate of Spartanburg Chamber of Commerce Advanced Political Leadership program, and an Upstate Chamber Coalition Washington DC Delegation participant.
