Habitat Greenville dedicates 2017 Faith Build Home

On Sunday, June 25, Habitat for Humanity of Greenville County dedicated the 2017 Faith/Golden Strip Church Coalition Build home, celebrating a longstanding partnership with faith communities in the Golden Strip and surrounding areas.
The home is being built for the Youngblood family. As a Habitat Greenville program participant, homeowner Nicole Youngblood will complete 20 hours of homeownership education classes. She will also complete 200 hours of “sweat equity,” building her home and the homes of other Habitat homeowners alongside volunteers from the church partners and other organizations. She will pay an affordable mortgage for the home.
Construction of the Youngblood home was made possible through the generosity of the partners participating in the Faith Build and Golden Strip Church Coalition, a group of local churches that support the mission of Habitat through donations and volunteering. This year’s build participants include Advent United Methodist Church, Aldersgate United Methodist Church, Brookwood Church, Cedar Grove Missionary Baptist Church, Christ the King Lutheran Church, Earle Street Baptist Church, Emmanuel United Church of Christ, First Baptist Church of Mauldin, Fountain Inn Presbyterian Church, Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church, Holy Cross Episcopal Church, Immanuel Lutheran Church, John Knox Presbyterian Church, Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, Messiah Lutheran Church, The Southern Connector, St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church, St. Michael Lutheran Church, St. Peter’s Episcopal Church and Trinity Lutheran Church. Many of these churches are longtime partners with Habitat Greenville.
