Donations of $44,000+ support Deputy Roy Hall who was struck by a drunk driver

Serve & Connect presented the Hall family with a check for $44,635 this week from funds raised by the Serve & Connect Crisis Response Program. The money will help support the Hall family after Deputy Roy Hall with the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department was struck by a drunk driver on June 8, 2019.

The check was presented to Deputy Hall and his wife, Brittany, at the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department on Wednesday afternoon. Serve & Connect’s CEO Kassy Alia Ray was joined by Sheriff Jay Koon and Ryan Alphin, Executive Director of the South Carolina Law Enforcement Officers Association and South Carolina Police Chiefs Association.

“The South Carolina Law Enforcement Association is proud to partner with Serve & Connect to help improve police and community interactions and to raise money for officers injured or killed in the line of duty,” shared Alphin. “There is no more important responsibility for us than to take care of those officers who need our help most.”

All funds were raised through Serve & Connect’s Crisis Response Program which raises money to assist families of fallen officers and officers critically injured in the line of duty in South Carolina. Since 2015 Serve & Connect has nearly raised $500,000 for officers killed or critically injured in the line of duty. 100% of the funds have been donated to these families.

“Every day, police officers put their lives at risk in service to others. Through our Crisis Response Program, we seek to help the families of officers killed in the line of duty or critically injured to support them during their recovery. Deputy Hall continues to have a difficult road ahead. It is our honor to do what we can to support him and his family as they move forward together,” shared Alia Ray.

Deputy Hall remains out of work as a result of the injuries sustained in the June 8th crash. All funds raised are intended to help the Hall family, including Deputy Hall, his wife, and their four children during this difficult time.

Despite the challenges faced, Deputy Hall shared an optimistic perspective following the check presentation, “What I take away from it is to learn to slow down and live a little more and love the ones you are with. You never know when it may be the last time you see them.”
