Hampton Street Vineyards to host the First Columbia Restaurant Summer Games to raise funds for local charities

July 10, 2024
Hampton Street Vineyard, located at 1207 Hampton Street and the only French restaurant in Columbia, SC, is excited to announce the launch of the first Columbia Restaurant Summer Games in honor of the 2024 Olympics in Paris. The Columbia Restaurant Summer Games will be hosted at Boyd Plaza, 1515 Main Street, on Sunday, August 4th from 5 PM to 8 PM.

The Columbia Restaurant Summer Games is a five part event inspired by the Olympic Games, created by owner and operator, Jonathan Lopez, in an effort to raise money for charities and showcase local talent. Serving as the host to the first restaurant games, Hampton Street Vineyard welcomes local restaurants each representing their “countries” for an evening of food, games, and charity at Boyd Plaza. Each restaurant will support a chosen charity, and guests can rally behind their favorites as they compete for charity prizes. Offerings include delicious dishes from participating restaurants while engaging in thrilling games and challenges.

“The event is an Olympics-themed competition in which restaurants are competing to raise money for different charities. With the Olympics happening in Paris this year, as a French restaurant, we couldn’t help but be inspired to host our own summer games. It quickly became clear that this should be a fundraising event, because we’re so passionate about our community and know that our fellow local restaurants and Columbia food lovers are too!” states Hampton Street Vineyard owner, Jonathan Lopez.

General admission, couples general admission, MVP tickets and couple MVP tickets for the Columbia Restaurant Summer Games are available now. Guests can expect an opening ceremony, chef competition, cocktail competition, restaurant martini dash, and finish with a medal ceremony. Current participating restaurants include Hanabi Hibachi & Sushi (Japan), Bierkeller Brewing Company (Germany), Ratio (Peru), Bodhi Thai (Thailand), The War Mouth (USA), and Villa Tronco (Italy).

Hampton Street Vineyard and Jonathan Lopez are known for their active involvement in community initiatives. In November 2023, Hampton Street Vineyard helped in raising funds and selecting wine pairings for the annual Merry Mirci Holiday wine pairing event, in partnership with Mirci, a mental health organization, at the Columbia Museum of Art. Within the same month, Hampton Street Vineyard’s executive chef, Jamie Pyatt, also participated in the Columbia Signature Chefs Auction for March of Dimes, to help raise funds for healthy moms and strong babies. Jonathan Lopez recently spearheaded a fundraising effort for the Make-A-Wish Foundation in March 2024 through the 2024 Trailblaze Challenge. This initiative aimed to raise critical funds to grant the one true wish of each eligible child with a critical illness.
