Harbison Theatre curates an artistically diverse 2024-2025 season

Harbison Theatre at Midlands Technical College has launched its new 2024-2025 season. Dance enthusiasts, entertainment aficionados, and music devotees will flock to Harbison Theatre to enjoy performances by America’s Got Talent comedians and illusionists, the South Carolina Ballet, Grammy-nominated singers and bands, nationally recognized dancers and more!
Fall 2024 Shows (September-November)
- Cody Webb – September 6, 2024: Join us for an exciting night as singer, songwriter and musician Cody Webb takes the stage. Enjoy Webb’s distinctive guitar styles and impressive vocal stylings, which have garnered the country music star over 14 million streams.
- Jasper Play Right Festival Winner: Let It Grow- September 14, 2024: Enjoy a staged reading of Chad Henderson’s new play, “Let it Grow.” Henderson, winner of the 2024 Jasper Project Play Right Series, weaves a horticultural tale about changing times, second chances and plants. Directed by Marybeth Gorman Craig, characters from a popular gardening show scramble to find a replacement after losing a key cast member and navigate the ensuing turmoil. Before the play, there will be a gallery reception with artist Nate Puza.
- “If You Only Knew…” Why I Struggle to Trust God presented by WOW Productions – September 20-22, 2024: Back by popular demand, WOW Productions will take the stage with their gripping narrative about the complexities of faith, trust, and personal struggles. Follow Nikki, Taylor, and Wendy as they question their trust in God and embark on journeys full of twists, laughter, and tears. Be challenged and wowed by this compelling story as you reflect on your own faith.
- Tony Howard’s Motown and Elvis Revue – October 5, 2024: Experience a Las Vegas-style show with Tony Howard’s Motown and Elvis Revue featuring tributes to the Temptations, Elvis, Tina Turner, and many more. Enjoy popular classics from the era and be dazzled with an evening of glitz, glam, and music.
- MALEVO – October 13, 2024: This all-male group, direct from Argentina, will take the stage for an unforgettable visual and sensory experience. Backed by a live band, you’ll experience MALEVO’s combination of strength, agility, flamenco, tango and Irish step dance. MALEVO has garnered many awards and accolades, including being named an official Cultural Ambassador to the National Identity of Argentina.
- Billy Bob Thornton and The Boxmasters – October 18, 2024: The Boxmasters and Billy Bob Thornton are set to take the stage on for an electrifying night of classic rock. Enjoy The Boxmasters’ iconic 1960s rock and roll sound as you rock out to their hits and some of their new singles like “Jayne Mansfield’s Car” and “Good Night, Sleep Tight, I’m Gone.” With the Capital City Playboys kicking off the night, it promises to be an unforgettable show.
- Rob Gardiner and The SC Jazz Masterworks Ensemble – October 26, 2024: Robert Gardiner and The SC Jazz Masterworks Ensemble returns to the stage with five thrilling shows for the 2024/2025 season under the direction of the immensely talented Dr. Rober Gardiner. Their first show on October 26 will celebrate organ virtuoso Mike LeDonne’s 68th birthday with the swinging sounds of a Hammond B-3 organ. Then, on December 8, ring in the holiday season with the big band sound of “Swingin’ Holidays.” On February 15, be swept off your feet with the lush harmonies and melodies of “Jazz is for Lovers,” followed by “An Evening with Cyrille Aimée” on April 12. Aimée brings a performance unlike any other as she combines an enrapturing blend of jazz, pop and Caribbean. On June 14, the SC Jazz Masterworks Ensemble will host their “Season Finale,” featuring renowned trumpeter, composer, bandleader and educator Sean Jones. Enjoy a night of big band sounds in this spectacular epilogue performance.
- The War and Treaty – November 1, 2024: Witness The War and Treaty, a husband-and-wife duo, take the stage for an unforgettable country music, roots rock performance. Grammy-nominated Michael Trotter Jr. and Tanya Trotter have been recognized by the Country Music Hall of Fame, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, the Grand Ole Opry and the Americana Music Association. They also have earned the AMA Duo/Group of the Year title for two straight years.
- Illusionist Mike Super – November 8, 2024: Back by popular demand, be amazed and confounded by Mike Super, illusionist extraordinaire, who will take the stage on November 8. Witness the impossible and the fantastic as Super performs jaw-dropping feats that will defy even your wildest imagination.
- The SC Philharmonic presents Andy & Friends – November 12, 2024: Join the SC Philharmonic for “Andy & Friends,” featuring celebrated pianist Andy Armstrong with Stefan Jackiw and Yoonah Kim for their latest chamber series. Some of the most talented, internationally acclaimed musicians will join Armstrong for a night of breathtaking music and exceptional performances.
- This Music is Naked: An Acoustic Evening with Danielle Howle, Josh Roberts & The Hinges, and The Ain’t Sisters – November 15, 2024: With This Music is Naked featuring Danielle Howle, Josh Roberts & The Hinges, and The Ain’t Sisters, three of the Southeast’s top artists will take the stage and deliver a musical performance that will surely move you and tug at your heart strings. You will be dazzled by a night of soulful storytelling and a blend of folk and roots rock.
Winter 2024-2025 Shows (December-March)
- “A Christmas Carol” presented by The Columbia Children’s Theatre – December 7, 2024: Enjoy a spectacular performance of the classic Christmas story. Performed by the Columbia Children’s Theatre, “A Christmas Carol” will ring in the holiday season as this retelling of the beloved Dickens’ story recounts the tale of Ebenezer Scrooge and the true meaning of joy, love and compassion.
- As Seen on TV: An Evening of “Southern Songwriters with Patrick Davis” featuring Maggie Rose, Gabe Dixon, & David Ryan Harris – January 24, 2025: South Carolina’s very own Patrick Davis will take the stage for a showcase of talent with three other performers: Maggie Rose, Gabe Dixon and David Ryan Harris. Join the Southeast’s most unique and accomplished singer-songwriters for a night of performances, stories, anecdotes and fellowship.
- John Lakin and Friends presents The Gospel Sound – February 1, 2025: John Lakin, the national gospel recording artist and celebrated praise and worship leader, will be hosting a special tribute to Black history with a live performance that will move audiences and reach across cultural barriers. Enjoy a beautiful journey that honors a rich heritage and features breathtaking musical stylings.
- Naturally 7 – February 9, 2025: Sing and groove along with Naturally 7, who will bring their unique renditions of classic movie themes to the stage. Their dynamic stage presence and soulful acapella performance will captivate and delight you. Naturally 7 has dazzled global audiences and has even shared the stage with big names like Michael Bublé, Diana Ross and Coldplay.
- Andy & Friends with The Barbican Quartet- February 11, 2025: Experience the Barbican Quartet with pianist Andy Armstrong for a musical presentation sure to astound and delight. The performance will feature the international talents of Amarins Wierdsma on violin, Kate Maloney on violin, Christoph Slenczka on viola and Yoanna Prodanova on cello.
- The Four Phantoms in Concert – February 22, 2025: Celebrate the music of Broadway and more with an extraordinary performance directed by Ryan Shirar. The Four Phantoms in Concert brings together four Phantoms from the iconic and award-winning “The Phantom of the Opera” for an unstoppable tribute to the beloved musical. Delight in the talents of Bren Barrett, John Cudia, Franc D’Ambrosio, and Ciarán Sheehan.
- Mother’s Finest – March 1, 2025: Mother’s Finest takes the stage live to deliver an energetic and one-of-a-kind performance. Lead vocalists Glenn “Doc” Murdock and Joyce “Baby Jean” Kennedy are joined by Gary “Moses Mo” Moore, John “Red Devil” Hayes, Jerry “Wyzard” Seay and Dion Derek for an unforgettable show that blends funk and rock for a sound that’s uniquely their own.
- “Romeo & Juliet” presented by the South Carolina Ballet – March 7, 2024: Romantics will delight in “Romeo and Juliet,” presented by the South Carolina Ballet. This breathtaking performance features Prima Ballerina Mariclare Miranda, former Principal Dancers Bo Busby and Maurice Johnson, and former South Carolina Ballet Soloists Erin Jaffee, Brandon Funk, Miranda Bailey, Abby McDowell, and Robert Gardner. It’s a beautiful homage to the Shakespearean classic that is sure to enthrall through music, art, and dance.
- MTC Showoff 2025 – March 15, 2025: Midlands Technical College students, faculty, staff and alumni will face off in a talent show that will make your jaw drop. Witness contestants perform their talents as they compete for the title of “Biggest Showoff” and a chance to win $1,000. It’s a fantastic opportunity to support Midlands Technical College and experience a wide variety of talent and entertainment.
- Comedian Tom Cotter – March 21, 2025: Join “America’s Got Talent” breakout star from season 7, comedian Tom Cotter, for an evening of laughter and fun on March 21. Cotter has made appearances on “The Tonight Show,” “Last Comic Standing,” “The Howard Stern Show,” “Comics Unleashed,” and “The Late Late Show.”
Spring 2025 Shows (April-May)
- So Good! The Neil Diamond Experience starring Robert Neary – April 4, 2025: Robert Neary takes the stage with So Good! The Neil Diamond Experience. Neary will enthrall music lovers and nostalgics alike. Sing along with popular Neil Diamond favorites, relive the musician’s greatest hits, and stay tuned for a surprise finale that will leave you breathless.
- The TAMS – April 26, 2025: The Tams will take the stage to bring you a night of fantastic music that blends smooth soul and R&B to create what’s been affectionately dubbed “beach music.” The Tams have several Gold Records and one platinum single as they’ve enthralled audiences of all ages for over 50 years.
- “Pete the Cat” presented by The Columbia Children’s Theatre – May 3, 2025: Join the Columbia Children’s Theatre for the exciting production of “Pete the Cat,” a tale about a groovy feline who sets out on a mission to help his pal Jimmy conquer the second grade. Journey with Pete and Jimmy in the VW Bus as they dazzle children and teach lessons about friendship along the way.
