Harvest Hope Food Bank Receives $25K Walmart Grant To Aid Senior Hunger Relief Programs

COLUMBIA, SC – Harvest Hope Food Bank has received a $25,000 grant from the Walmart Foundation’s State Giving Program to help expand their senior hunger relief mission in the Pee Dee.
This grant will provide Harvest Hope with the necessary resources to expand its Totes of Love senior feeding program, which provides qualified seniors with a tote bag of nutritionally balanced food twice a month to supplement their diet. This gift will enable Harvest Hope to provide thousands of additional meals to senior citizens in Pee Dee communities.
“We appreciate Walmart’s continued generosity,” said Denise Holland, CEO of Harvest Hope Food Bank. “Walmart’s support is valuable in helping us fulfill our mission to help hungry people in 20 counties by gathering quality food and sharing it with them with dignity and compassion.”

In 2014, community giving in South Carolina from Walmart stores, Sam’s Clubs and the Walmart Foundation totaled $31.9 million.
