Healthy South Carolina Challenge: 2007-08 Healthy SC Challenge School Video Contest

COLUMBIA, S.C. –October 16, 2006 – First Lady Jenny Sanford and State Superintendent of Education Jim Rex will host a joint press conference announcing the 2007-08 School Video Contest on Thursday, October 18th at 11:30 at the State House steps (Gervais Street side).
The Healthy SC Challenge School Video Contest aims to reinforce among SC students the importance of healthy living by challenging them to create healthy TV-type advertisements. OurStage.com, the only purely democratic online competition where the fans decide who’s the best video, is hosting this competition on a customized site created for this contest.
$20,000 in cash prizes will be awarded to top videos, and thousands of dollars worth of corporate prizes will be awarded to schools sponsoring winning videos. Sponsors include BlueCross Blue Shield of SC, Coca Cola Bottling Co. Consolidated, Partnership to Fight Chronic Disease, Subway, DHEC, Palmetto Project and Wal-Mart.
Partnerships include SC Department of Education, SC Independent Schools Association, Catholic Schools Diocese, Palmetto Association of Independent Schools, and the SC Association of Independent Home Schools.
The contest officially launches November 1, 2007 and ends January 31, 2008.
