Heather’s Heart Quarantine concert to benefit Columbia artists – April 5

April 1, 2020

South Carolina House District 75 candidate Heather Bauer will be holding an online concert benefiting the campaign and the artists who are in need of financial support during our worldwide quarantine due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Many South Carolinians are facing unemployment, housing and food insecurity, and an overall human rights crisis.  According to the SC Department of Employment Workforce, there was a 400 percent increase in unemployment claims in one week. “I have a background in the arts and oftentimes artists are overlooked because of their reliance on the gig economy and not on traditional jobs to support their livelihood,” says Heather Bauer.  “There are artists who are not able to file for unemployment so we want to highlight them and ensure that they continue to get support for their work during this time.”

Moreover, campaigns are challenged with outreach and engagement through this unprecedented time in our world’s history.  For the first time, campaigns have to fully rely on online organizing and presence.  This may change the nature of campaigning as we know it.  This online concert will benefit the campaign and the artist community, as they collaborate to engage with an evolving world.
