Hendrick Automotive Group and Lowcountry Food Bank Spring Meal Packing Event will feed families for Easter
April 15, 2019Hendrick Automotive Group & the Lowcountry Food Bank (LCFB) conducted a Spring Meal Packing Event this morning at the Lowcountry Food Bank’s Paul Hulsey Community Food and Nutrition Center. Volunteers from Charleston & North Charleston Hendrick Automotive Group Dealerships and Military Magnet Academy, North Charleston, packed 1,000 Easter meals that will be distributed to families who struggle with hunger in the Lowcountry.
Representatives shared the importance of donations such as this while raising awareness of food insecurity in the Charleston area this holiday season, where one in five children go to bed hungry.
“It means the world to us to partner with Hendrick Automotive Group,” said LCFB President and CEO Pat Walker. ” Hendrick Automotive Group is truly compassionate and wants to give back to their community. This Spring Meal Drive is making such a difference in the Lowcountry by providing nutritious meals to families who struggle with hunger.”
These traditional Easter meals include a ham, rice, mac & cheese, green beans, corn, stuffing, canned peaches and pie. Each meal should feed a family of at least four.
As part of its first company-wide Spring Meal Drive initiative, Hendrick Automotive Group has committed to continue its fight against hunger by partnering with 25 different food banks within the 14 states in which Hendrick companies operate. By the end of the 2019 Spring Meal Drive, teammates from more than 130 Hendrick Automotive Group dealerships, collision centers, accessories dealership installers and support offices will have donated, packed and distributed more than 10,000 traditional meals to help more than 40,000 individuals struggling with hunger this holiday season.
