Heritage Classic Foundation names new board members
October 1, 2015HILTON HEAD ISLAND, SC – The Heritage Classic Foundation has elected two new members to the Board, which oversees the operations and charitable giving of the PGA TOUR’s RBC Heritage Presented by Boeing.
Al Kennickell, President of The Kennickell Group was elected at the Heritage Classic Foundation’s Annual Board Meeting September 21, 2015. Al is the first Heritage Classic Foundation Board Member from Savannah, GA. Mike Manesiotis, the newly appointed RBC Heritage General Chairman of Volunteers, was named to an advisory position at that same meeting.
Al Kennickell was born in Savannah and attended public schools. He graduated from Jenkins High School in 1973. He accepted a football scholarship to The Citadel where he graduated in 1977. Upon graduation he went to work at Kennickell Printing Co. (now The Kennickell Group), the family’s printing business. In 1981 he became the president, and the next year bought the business from the family. Kennickell leads the industry in innovation and technology, and is often recognized nationally for its achievements. It is now the leading company in the world in global print and distribution with many of America’s leading companies as clients.
Al is currently the president of the Brigadier Foundation of the Citadel as well as being chairman of the National Museum of the Mighty Eighth Air Force. He is a past Chairman of the Liberty Mutual Legends of Golf, Savannah Area Chamber of Commerce, Greater Savannah Sports Council, Coastal Georgia Workforce Development Partnership, The Savannah Executive Association, The Savannah Foundation, The Chatham Club, Walk America and past Senior Warden of St Thomas Episcopal Church.
“We think Al will be an important addition to the Board”, said Heritage Classic Foundation Chairman Simon Fraser. “He has many contacts in the Savannah area and will be able to help us create new partnerships and expand our charitable giving across the Savannah River.”
Manesiotis is from Pittsburgh, PA and graduated from Edinboro University. He moved to Hilton Head in 1985. He is a past owner of Giuseppi’s Pizza, Harbour Town Deli and Harold’s Diner. He is currently the owner/broker in charge of Hilton Head Long Term Rentals and Premier Long Term Rentals. He is married to Sally and has three children.
The 48th annual RBC Heritage Presented by Boeing will be played April 11-17, 2016 over the famed Harbour Town Golf Links on Hilton Head Island.
