Heyward Career and Technology Center’s barbering program offering free back-to-school haircuts to students – August 9

August 6, 2025

Richland One families looking to get fresh haircuts for their children before the first day of school can get that done for free while giving high school students career training experience.

Heyward Career and Technology Center’s barbering program is offering free back-to-school haircuts to returning Richland One elementary, middle and high school students.

August 11 is the first day of school for Richland One students.

Students can get free haircuts Saturday, August 9 from 8 a.m. – 2 p.m. at Heyward (3560 Lynhaven Drive, Columbia, SC 29204). To receive a free haircut, students must be registered for the 2025-2026 school year and parents and guardians must present their child’s registration confirmation.

Approximately 30 students are enrolled in Heyward’s barbering program this school year.
