HGTC cancels all weekend classes and will operate remotely Monday, Feb. 2, due to winter weather

January 30, 2026

Due to anticipated winter weather impacts and potentially hazardous road conditions, Horry-Georgetown Technical College (HGTC) has canceled all weekend classes and will transition to online instruction and remote work on Monday, Feb. 2, 2026.

All classes and College operations will be conducted remotely. Faculty, staff, and students will not report for in-person academic activities, including classes, clinical and clinical rotations, internships and preceptorships, federal work-study positions, or any other in-person activities this weekend or on Monday.

College leadership and the HGTC Emergency Management Team continue to monitor weather conditions closely and remain in coordination with local and regional emergency management partners. The decision to operate remotely prioritizes the safety of students, employees, and the broader community while ensuring continuity of instruction and services.

Students needing assistance with enrollment, registration, or financial aid services may contact FA Solutions at 843-347-3186 or via email at [email protected]. Additional information regarding virtual student services is available through the College’s Virtual Services Guide on the HGTC website. For specific details on accessing courses virtually, students are encouraged to contact their instructors or log in to Desire2Learn (D2L).

Employees are encouraged to connect with their supervisors for guidance regarding remote work expectations.

HGTC will assess plans for Tuesday operations on Monday and will share additional updates as information becomes available.

Students, employees, and community members are encouraged to monitor official College communication channels for the latest updates, including HGTC email, the HGTC Advisory Page, the myHGTC Portal, HGTC social media platforms, and local media outlets.
