Holiday Lights at Fire Sation 3
Fire Station 3, 534 William Hilton Parkway
Hilton Head Island Fire Rescue sets up this annual display to help make the season merry and bright for those in our community who may need help. From now through the end of the year, Fire Rescue will be collecting non-perishable food items and new unwrapped toys for Deep Well. New unwrapped toys should be for ages 1-12 and need to be dropped off by Dec. 15 to get into Santa’s workshop. Non-perishable food items can be dropped off through Jan. 1, 2025.
Every fire station on Hilton Head Island has a mailbox just for letters to Santa! Santa Mail will run until Dec. 18. Make sure your return address is on the envelope because Santa always writes back! Check online to find drop-off locations.
Santa will be touring Island neighborhoods with Hilton Head Island Fire Rescue. You will be able to get a glimpse of Santa as they drive through various neighborhoods. Visit hiltonheadislandsc.gov for the schedule and to check out our Santa Tracker, which lets you see when he will be in your neighborhood.
Community Shabbat and Hanukkah Celebration
Friday, Dec. 27, from 5:30 to 7:30 pm
Lowcountry Celebration Park
94 Pope Avenue, Hilton Head Island
This annual event celebrates the Jewish holiday, Hanukkah. The Menorah Lighting will begin at 5:30 pm. All are welcome to participate in this event featuring the lighting of the Menorah, latkes, and sufganiyot (traditional Hanukkah food), music, dreidel games, a holiday collection to support individuals in need, and more. Rabbi Brad L. Bloom of Congregation Beth Yam will lead the Menorah lighting ceremony.
Our Keep the Wreath Green program serves as a reminder of the safety precautions that should be taken during this holiday season and throughout the year. Fire Rescue has a wreath which is illuminated with green bulbs, at Fire Station Three (next to First Presbyterian Church on William Hilton Parkway). If a fire occurs during the holiday season, one of the green bulbs will change to red. This includes preventable fires such as cooking, smoking, space heaters, candles, etc. The wreath will remain lit through January 1, 2025.
Keep up with all our holiday happenings on the Town’s website at hiltonheadislandsc.gov, Facebook, and Instagram.
