Cokesbury College, on the National Register of Historic Places, is a historical gem in the Greenwood area. Established in 1854, the college was committed to innovative education for young men (Cokesbury Manual Conference School), young women (Cokesbury Female College) and emancipated slaves (Allen University). Although Cokesbury may seem “off the beaten path” today, it was once one of the most prominent communities in the upper part of South Carolina. At its peak, it was a thriving hub of education for the entire state, and many influential South Carolinians called it home.

Over the years, Cokesbury College has undergone significant renovations and is a sought-after site for weddings, specials event and other functions. It features a large reception hall, chapel, garden and bridal suite.
