Holder Properties developing Portside office building in Mount Pleasant

September 7, 2018

Holder Properties, a privately held full-service real estate development company, announced that construction is underway on a 120,000 square-foot multi-tenant office building called Portside – Ferry Wharf.   Ferry Wharf is a master-planned mixed use development including office, retail, hospitality and residential projects on Charleston Harbor in Mount Pleasant. It is located at the foot of the Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge and will feature unparalleled views of downtown Charleston across Charleston Harbor. Rich in its history of commerce, the Ferry Wharf development sits on the location in which the ferries between Downtown Charleston and Mount Pleasant landed prior to the completion of the Cooper River Bridge in 1929.

Atlanta-based Holder Properties broke ground in March 2018 on Portside, a 5-story Class A office building.  The building will be located along the waterfront and will share a parking deck with the new hotel under construction. Leasing is underway with Portside at approximately 45% preleased.  Space is available for lease on the first, third and fourth floors. The state-of-the-art office building will feature extensive use of exterior glass, highly efficient 25,000 square foot floor plates and an unparalleled location and view.  Portside will be available for occupancy in spring 2019.  The building is designed by McMillan Pazdan Smith Architecture and is being built by Freese Johnson.

“Holder Properties is excited to be a part of this unique community and deliver one of the few waterfront office buildings in the Charleston area,” says John Holder, CEO of Holder Properties. Holder Properties is one of the region’s most respected developers and has played a prominent role in the Charleston real estate market for over 12 years, with notable recent projects including the development of Blackbaud’s new corporate campus on Daniel Island and the River Oaks Center Office Building in North Charleston.
