Holly Caprell, GCYO’s Executive Director since 2007, received a B.A. from Converse College in Spartanburg, South Carolina with a major in Psychology and minors in Music Performance and Accounting.  She is a private voice and piano teacher and the voice teacher at Southside Christian School. In addition, she does free lance work both on and off the area theater stages.

When it was founded in the 1970’s as part of the Greenville County’s after school program, the GCYO comprised one orchestra.  Today, the organization has grown to over 300 students from 6th to 12th grade in five orchestras.  The broad mission is orchestral education for talented students.  An important part of the program is teaching students to find their own mission through music.
