August 31, 2017

GREENVILLE, SC – The National Association of Home Builders honored Home Builders Association of Greenville CEO Michael Dey with its inaugural Local Executive Officer of the Year Award during the International Builders’ Show in Orlando. The award recognizes the dedication, loyalty and commitment of Home Builders Association Chief Executive Officers who stand out for consistently promoting the value of membership and working tirelessly on behalf of their members and the NAHB Federation during the past year.

This award is unique, as the NAHB staff senior management team nominated the candidates and the officers selected the winners. Each winner received a $1,000 check, and contributions to the National Housing Endowment/Executive Officers Council Student Scholarship Fund were made in each of their names.

“Association executive officers are often the unsung heroes of the National Association of Home Builders Federation. They do yeoman’s work to serve our members and advance the needs of the housing industry,” said NAHB CEO Jerry Howard during the award presentation.

Dey joined the Home Builders Association of Greenville in 2007 as Executive Vice President and Chief Executive Officer. He manages the association, which has 600 members and produces the Southern Home and Garden Show, Parade of Homes, and Tour of New Homes, and administers the Approved Professional Builder program.

He was previously a lobbyist for the Home Builders Association of South Carolina and the South Carolina Association of Realtors. Additionally, he has held government affairs positions with the home builders associations in Atlanta, GA, and Winston-Salem, NC. Dey is currently the President of the Executive Officers Council of the National Association of Home Builders.

He is a graduate of the University of South Carolina School of Journalism. He and his wife, Karen, an executive with South State Bank, have two adult children, Patrick, an architect in Denver, Colorado, and Stacey, a healthcare administrator in West Columbia, South Carolina.
