Home Works of America receives $50,000 from Wells Fargo
April 10, 2018Home Works of America is pleased to announce a $50,000 investment from Wells Fargo, which will enable the continued expansion of the organization’s mission across South Carolina.
Home Works of America provides safety and sanitation repairs to vulnerable homeowners across South Carolina free of charge. Repairs are critical for the health and safety of each homeowner and often include the replacement of roofs, siding or other measures – all conducted by youth and adult volunteers
in a spirit of compassionate construction.
“Over the past four years, Wells Fargo has increasingly become one of our most significant investors and partners – both financially, as well as through volunteerism and philanthropic counsel. We are beyond thankful for another significant donation that will help us expand our mission in 2018 as we serve homeowners across the great state of South Carolina,” said Joe Huggins, Executive Director of Home Works of America.
During 2017, Home Works repaired 130 homes across the region, with almost 3,000 volunteers and more than 30,000 volunteer hours. With an expanding footprint in South Carolina, Home Works now serves homeowners in the Midlands, Upstate, and Lowcountry, as well as in Aiken, Horry, Florence, and Williamsburg counties. During November 2017, Home Works was awarded the Best Practices Award by the national ReFrame Association (voted upon by peers from home repair nonprofits across the United States) for creative collaboration with utility providers to reduce energy costs and carbon emissions in conjunction with volunteer-driven home repairs.
“We are proud to support Home Works of America in their efforts to empower our community by repairing homes in need and assisting youth in their development,” said Wells Fargo Midlands Market President Holt Chetwood. “One of the most important things we can do as a company is invest in our communities and make a positive difference.”
