August 26, 2025On August 5th, Hood Construction and Quackenbush Architects joined Central Carolina Technical College (CCTC) administrators, students, and staff to celebrate the dedication of their new Academic Student Services Building. Located on CCTC’s main campus in Sumter, the new three-story 62,980 SF student services building provides a centralized home to a variety of student services currently spread out across multiple buildings.
The new academic building offers easy access to departments and will facilitate student events and functions with ample multipurpose student center space. The building features a variety of specialized classrooms, including biology/chemistry labs, anatomy/physiology labs, microbiology labs, general-purpose classrooms, prep areas, staff offices, and more.

The project teams of Central Carolina Technical College, Quackenbush Architects, and Hood Construction worked together to complete the new Academic Building before students arrived for their fall semester.
“This was a special project for everyone and could not have been completed without such great teamwork and collaboration,” said Charles Stuart, Project Manager with Hood Construction. “The dedication ceremony was a great moment to celebrate the team’s hard work in completing this project on time and under budget.”
“The academic and student services building represents a major milestone in CCTC’s ongoing campus transformation,” said Spencer Hutchinson, Project Architect with Quackenbush Architects. “Our partnership with Hood Construction on this project was a case study in effective teamwork and was key to delivering a successful project that will serve CCTC, its students, and the community for decades to come.”
At the dedication ceremony, many members of the CCTC community joined together to welcome the academic building to campus, including elected officials, CCTC’s area commission and foundation members, workforce development partners, and donors.
Following the dedication and ribbon cutting, guests gathered inside for a tour of the academic building.
