April 10, 2018During March 2018, a total of 176,388 passengers passed through the Myrtle Beach International Airport (MYR), an increase of 12.5-percent compared to March 2017.
At MYR, total passenger traffic in March 2018, which includes enplanements and deplanements, totaled 176,388 compared to 156,809 in March 2017. The number of people arriving on flights, or deplanements, totaled 91,131 compared to 80,528 in 2017.
“March 2018 was another record breaking month for the Myrtle Beach International Airport,” said Scott Van Moppes, director of airports. “In March we exceeded last year’s record breaking numbers by an impressive 13 percent. In fact for the first three months of 2018, the airport has welcomed more people to the Grand Strand than ever before. This growth is being fueled as our airline partners continue to expand service into our destinations early spring season; in March, seasonal nonstop service from Hartford CT, Columbus OH and Pittsburgh PA commenced earlier than last year. Overall, our carriers have increased seat capacity in the majority of the nonstop markets served. The growth at the airport is strong and as long as the airline industry remains healthy we anticipate that the airlines will continue reporting very strong passenger numbers through the spring and summer seasons. This growth is fantastic news for both our local population and those wanting to visit Myrtle Beach, SC.”
