How to ruin your reputation

Live up to your promises
We were all working over the weekend.
Hurricane Irma was bearing down on our state.
We needed to print both of our newspapers early.
We also wanted to get them delivered early.
“Better late than never” is not our motto.
Getting your paper early is not a problem.
Just imagine delivering it during a hurricane.
We have a contract with readers and advertisers.
And we do what’s needed to honor that contract.
Apparently not everyone in business feels this way.
We ordered lunch for all of us from a new restaurant.
The owner had mailed a menu which looked good.
We ordered salads, pizza, wings, etc..
We were promised delivery in 45 minutes.
After several calls the delivery man finally arrived.
He was more than two hours late.
You can imagine how we felt about this.
What if they told us it would take two hours?
We would have ordered somewhere else.
But at least they would have been honest about it.
Now we may be inclined to talk trash about them
They promised 45 minutes and took over two hours.
Is that any way to treat your customers?
Is that living up to a promise or our expectations?
And they did not check to see if we finally got it.
Now think about this: Are you guilty, too?
When was the last time to you let customers down?
When did you deliver less than you promised?
How about those who work with you?
Do they have your zeal for keeping a promise.
For meeting the customers’ expectations.
For creating memorable customer experiences?
How do you know this to be true? Do you check?
