HTC expands Horry Georgetown Technical College support by sponsorship of student pantry
December 4, 2025Funding Supports Food Assistance Services Across All Three HGTC Campuses
HTC, the area’s largest fiber internet provider, has committed $3,000 annually to support the Horry Georgetown Technical College (HGTC) Pantry, strengthening food assistance services available to students on the Conway, Grand Strand and Georgetown campuses. The sponsorship will directly fund operational expansion and student support services, helping the Pantry meet growing needs across all three locations. With this continued support, HTC will now be recognized as the Pantry’s Community Partner.
The HGTC Pantry provides food, hygiene items and other essential resources to students facing food insecurity, ensuring access to consistent support that helps reduce barriers to academic success. HTC’s sponsorship enables the Pantry to increase inventory, enhance distribution capabilities and expand student outreach across the college’s service areas.
“This partnership with HTC ensures that more of our students will receive the essential support they need to stay focused on their education,” said Shannon Detzler, Horry Georgetown Technical College Foundation President and CEO. “HTC’s investment strengthens the Pantry’s impact and demonstrates a shared commitment to the well-being and success of our students.”
To mark the partnership, HTC representatives plan to join the Lowcountry Food Bank and HGTC Pantry on December 5, when the organizations will host a Fresh for All food distribution from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at HGTC’s Grand Strand Campus, which is located at 3639 Pampas Drive in Myrtle Beach. The event provides fresh and healthy food options for students and community members, offering an opportunity for HTC to support the Pantry’s work first-hand.
“HTC is proud to support the HGTC Pantry and critical services it provides to students,” said Sandy Hendrick, HTC Marketing Manager. “As a member-focused cooperative, we believe in strengthening the communities we serve, and this partnership allows us to make a direct, and meaningful, difference in the lives of students who may need a little extra support.”
