Hurricane Helene Recovery Update From Myron Wilkins Thornwell President and CEO

September 30, 2024
Anna and I are thankful for your prayers as Thornwell recovers from the devastation left behind by Hurricane Helene. We are thankful that we were able to get electrical service back for now. We pray that it will hold. Food and fuel are in limited supply. We hope that will improve as businesses come back online and roads clear. Wifi and cell service remain spotty at best. The work of repairing buildings hit by trees and tree and debris clean-up is ongoing. (Over 30 trees down, several building damaged)
I am so thankful to lead a great staff team at Thornwell! While we are all dealing with personal challenges related to the storm’s aftermath, we remain committed to continuing to offering the best service and support possible to the children and families we are called to serve.
Please continue to pray for us and the other thousands of people signicantly impacted by the storm throughout the southeast. The devastation has taken both livelihoods, and lives.
Some have asked how they can help Thornwell, beyond prayer, as we recover. We will be letting you know about some specific needs as we get a clearer picture of of the need in the coming days. If you desire to HELP NOW, please follow the link: https://thornwell.org/give/ ;
It will take you to our official Thornwell giving page. Monetary gifts give us great flexibility to respond to real time needs. As always, and more than ever now, your prayers and financial support are both needed and appreciated.
As we move forward, day by day, we draw comfort and inspiration from the Scriptures:
God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Psalms 46:1
And God will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need, and plenty left over to share with others.
2 Corinthians 9:8
Trusting God to provide and restore,
Rev. Myron Wilkins
