Icy Beauty Greets Fountain Inn as Winter Weather Creates Hazardous Travel Conditions
January 25, 2026Fountain Inn residents woke up Sunday morning, January 25, to a picturesque scene as a light blanket of snow and sleet covered the area, transforming the landscape into a winter postcard.
City crews were out early assessing conditions and preparing for what officials say will be a prolonged ice event. While the snowy view may be inviting, travel conditions are expected to become increasingly dangerous throughout the day.
According to the latest forecast, sleet is expected to transition to mostly freezing rain by this afternoon, with icy precipitation continuing across much of the region before tapering off from west to east this evening. Roads are already becoming slick, and officials warn that surfaces may quickly turn treacherous or even impassable.
In addition to hazardous roadways, widespread power outages are possible as ice accumulates on tree limbs and power lines, increasing the risk of downed branches and infrastructure damage.
Residents are encouraged to stay off the roads if possible and continue monitoring local updates as conditions evolve.
