Improvements planned for Clemson Road at North Springs Road/Rhame Road intersection

March 16, 2017

The Richland County Transportation Penny Program, which is funded by the one-cent sales tax referendum passed by the voters of Richland County in November of 2012, is pleased to announce the construction of another local intersection project. The intersection, located at Clemson Road and North Springs Road/ Rhame Road, is the fifth of six intersection improvements to begin over the last year under a contract awarded by Richland County to C.R. Jackson Construction Company, a locally owned construction contractor based in Columbia.

Construction at the intersection of Clemson Road and North Springs Road/ Rhame Road is scheduled to begin this week and should be substantially completed by July 15. Project improvements for this intersection include a new right turn lane to North Springs Road on Clemson Road, a new second left turn lane on both North Springs Road and Rhame Road, a new right turn lane on Rhame Road and the replacement of the existing traffic signal.

All motorists traveling through the project area are asked to be aware of the crews, equipment and potential traffic delays during the construction. Motorists are also asked to pay attention to traffic control signs, reductions in the speed limit and the message display board information. Alternative routes are recommended, where possible. Please note that all road work is dependent on the weather conditions.

The contractor, C.R. Jackson, Inc. is responsible for the maintenance of the intersection for the duration of the project. Please contact Elizabeth Jackson at (803) 750-6070 or Email: [email protected] for any questions or further construction related information.
