Individual tickets now available for Clemson’s Ethics in Action Award Dinner

CLEMSON, S.C. –Tickets are now available for the 2018 James F. Barker Ethics in Action Award Dinner, honoring former mayor of Charleston Joseph P. Riley, Jr. The event will be Saturday, Feb. 10, 2018 at the Francis Marion Hotel in Charleston, South Carolina.
Tickets are $175 per person and available through the Clemson Marketplace. Clemson alumni will receive an exclusive ticket price of $150 per person through Sunday, Jan. 14. The Ethics in Action Award Dinner will begin at 6 p.m., with a cocktail hour followed by dinner and the award reception.
The James F. Barker Ethics in Action Award is named for the 14th president of Clemson University and is bestowed upon an exceptional individual whose actions exemplify integrity. The award brings ethics into focus through real-life application and is an ongoing, constructive way to recognize commitment to ethical conduct and the value of integrity. Nominations were accepted from across South Carolina and were reviewed by a subcommittee of the Rutland Institute for Ethics advisory board.
Riley is considered one of the most visionary and highly effective governmental leaders in America. He served 10 consecutive terms as mayor of Charleston from 1975 to 2016. He led a city government with an impressive record of innovation in public safety, housing, arts and culture, children’s issues and economic revitalization and development. The City of Charleston is recognized as one of the most livable and progressive cities in the United States, and much of this can be credited to Mr. Riley.
Table sponsorships for the dinner honoring Mr. Riley start at $2,000, and dinner host sponsorships start at $600. All proceeds from the evening benefit the Rutland Institute for Ethics through the Clemson University Foundation.
