WBENC certification recognizes agency as woman-owned minority business

BRIGHT+CO Marketing, a leading national integrated marketing firm, has earned national certification as a Women’s Business Enterprise by the Greater Women’s Business Council, the Southeast regional certifying partner of the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC).

WBENC’s national standard of certification follows a meticulous process including an in-depth review of the business and site inspection designed to confirm the business is at least 51% owned, operated and controlled by a woman or women. WBENC certification fuels economic growth globally through access to opportunities, by identifying, certifying and facilitating the development of women-owned businesses.

This certification will better position BRIGHT+CO to compete for the increasing number of government and private industry contracts where a diverse minority- and women-owned supplier base is preferred or required.

BRIGHT+CO founder and chief executive officer Jennifer Sutton (pictured) built her business model around the notion of empowering women and offering the flexibility needed to keep top talent in the workforce.  The BRIGHT+CO team is comprised largely of highly tenured female marketers who are subject matter experts in their respective disciplines, from digital marketing and research to public relations and media. Sutton is also a passionate advocate of mentoring and development initiatives both nationally and in Greenville, S.C., where her company is based, working to coach the next generation of minority business leaders through the  Greenville Chamber of Commerce Minority Business Accelerator (MBA) program and investing heavily in pro bono work and engagement with a variety of non-profit organizations including Junior Achievement and Habitat for Humanity.

The WBENC certification comes on the heels of the agency being honored with an American Advertising Foundation Mosaic Award for diversity and inclusion.  This prestigious award recognizes companies, individuals and agencies whose dedication to diversity and inclusion is evident through creative work and organization-wide initiatives.

“An ever-increasing number of companies and government agencies are looking to stimulate economic growth by broadening their supply base to include more diverse partners, but they need to be sure that suppliers are reputable and honest in their claims,” noted Sutton. “Through its stringent and thorough certification and development processes, WBENC plays a powerful role in giving buyers peace of mind while opening new and exciting opportunities for women-owned businesses. BRIGHT+CO is thrilled to be certified by this important organization and proud to work toward our shared goals of empowerment, mentorship and success.”
