International film production comes to Greenville

GREENVILLE, SC – Dark Corner Films helped bring supernatural thriller, Chronology, to Greenville for filming this October.
The movies stars William Baldwin, Danny Trejo, John James and Laura James, the producers confirmed on set Friday in west Greenville. The movie is being directed by Derik Wingo and Kipp Tribble, who grew up in Greenville.
“Greenville really became the ideal spot for us to film,” Tribble said. “The support has been great.”
The movie’s production team chose Greenville after calling local director Jeff Sumerel looking for location ideas. Sumerel, who works with Dark Corner Films, suggested Greenville and soon a deal was worked out to film part of the movie here, said Bryan Tankersley, owner of Dark Corner.
Dark Corner and Stern Pictures are producing the film together, he said.
“This is a great opportunity to showcase Greenville’s film scene,” Tankersley said. “It has been a lot of long days, but the excitement around the project has been fantastic.”
Filming of the movie started in Poland earlier this month before shifting to Greenville, Tankersley said. Filming will conclude in Greenville by October 24.
The producers and directors originally planned to keep the filming under wraps while in Greenville, but decided to announce the movie was being worked on after numerous social media links from people who saw production crews.
“There has been a lot of buzz and a lot of questions so we decided to announce earlier than expected,” Tankersley said.
Many in the community are excited by the film. Matt Foster, one of the founders of the inaugural Reedy Reels Film Festival next week, said it was serendipitous that a movie was being filmed Greenville the same week as the festival.
“This really underscores what we have been talking about,” Foster said. “Greenville’s film scene is growing and gaining attention.”
