Irmo High: Promoting Academics One Brick at a Time

November 27, 2017

The Irmo High School Education Foundation (IHSEF) is in the midst of its 2017 Holiday Brick Campaign. Dedicated to promoting academics at Irmo High School International School for the Arts in Columbia, IHSEF funds grants to teachers and scholarships to qualified graduating seniors.

“Buying a brick is an investment in our community’s future,” according to IHSEF board member Melinda Petruzzi. “Irmo High School has been a cornerstone of the Irmo community since 1928 and we’re thrilled to be a part of this continuing legacy.”

To order, please visit: https://polarengraving.com/IrmoHighSchoolBricks. Place your order online by December 8, and a certificate for presenting your gift will be available to pick up at Irmo High School’s main office by December 12. The customized bricks will be installed in a prominent location on the grounds of Irmo High School, visible for generations.

“Each brick can be engraved with a brief message,” explained IHSEF president, Sarah Ostergaard. “We have installed bricks honoring past and present students, as well as family members of staff. In addition, it’s a unique marketing opportunity for local businesses.”

“Purchasing a personalized brick can help pave the way to a brighter future by placing much-needed resources and tools directly into the hands of those who teach at Irmo High School,” continued Ostergaard. The IHSEF funds needs that teachers at IHS identify as critical to their effectiveness in the classroom. Recent grants have allowed teachers to purchase specialized photography equipment, a car for the auto-collision program, books for English and Business classrooms, and SAT and ACT prep classes. The IHSEF also provides two annual $1,000 scholarships for seniors to pursue higher education.

The IHSEF is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit separate from Irmo High School, created and administered by volunteers. To learn more about the IHSEF, please visit http://www.ihsef.com/.
