Irmo Mayor appointed to the National League of Cities’ 2026 Small Cities Council
January 27, 2026Bill Danielson, Mayor of the Town of Irmo, has been appointed to the National League of Cities (NLC) 2026 Small Cities Council. Danielson was elected to a one-year term to develop and guide programs among local elected officials from similar communities. The appointment was announced by NLC President Kevin Kramer, Councilmember of Louisville, Kentucky.
“Being appointed to the National League of Cities Small Cities Council is important because it ensures that towns like Irmo have a seat at the national table. Our community’s challenges and opportunities are unique, and this Council gives us the ability to shape solutions, share best practices, and bring resources home that directly strengthen our local economy and quality of life,” stated Danielson.
As a member of NLC’s Small Cities Council, Mayor Danielson will play a key role among a diverse group of local leaders to encourage collaboration, networking and the development of resources and programs beneficial to communities that share demographics, size or location that can be replicated across the country.
“National League of Cities’ member councils design and create NLC’s policies that bring together innovative ideas and solutions to the biggest challenges facing local leaders across the country,” said National League of Cities President Kevin Kramer, Councilmember, Louisville, Kentucky. “I am thrilled to have Mayor Bill Danielson serve on NLC’s Small Cities Council this year as we work together to ensure our cities, towns and villages have the resources they need to create thriving communities.”
Irmo Mayor, Bill Danielson was first elected in 2020. He and his wife, Peggy, have two children and two grandchildren. With more than 35 years working in finance, he was recently appointed to the Board of Directors for the Lexington County Development Corporation (LCDC). In July of 2025, he launched the Mayor’s Uplift Initiative that is focused on raising money and awareness to strengthen the community by empowering residents, supporting local businesses, and fostering partnerships that improve quality of life for all who call Irmo home.
