A Flock of Seagulls, the iconic new wave sensation known for their eccentric haircuts and timeless hit “I Ran (So Far Away)” lands at Harbison Theatre, Friday, May 3 at 7:30 p.m. Emerging from the synth-heavy new romantic movement, the band’s sleek dance-pop garnered widespread acclaim. Formed in 1980 by lead vocalist Mike Score and joined by Ali (drums), Frank Maudsley (bass), and Paul Reynolds (guitar), their underground success led to a major-label contract. “I Ran” catapulted them to global fame with its icily attractive video, while “Wishing (If I Had a Photograph of You)” further solidified their impact. Despite lineup changes, their passion endured, delighting fans with hits like “Magic” in 1989.
