It’s Showtime: Mauldin Youth Theatre Brings Beetlejuice Jr. to the Cultural Center
February 1, 2026The Mauldin Cultural Center is about to get a little more strange and unusual as the Mauldin Youth Theatre prepares to take the stage with their production of Beetlejuice Jr. The musical, based on the cult-classic film and the hit Broadway show, brings a high-energy, ghostly spectacle to the Golden Strip, showcasing the immense talent of the area’s young performers.
The production marks another milestone for the city’s burgeoning arts scene, proving that Mauldin continues to be a hub for youth development in the performing arts. For local families, it is a chance to see a Broadway-caliber story told through the lens of student actors who have spent weeks mastering the show’s complex choreography and iconic musical numbers.
A Spooky Story with a big heart while the titular character, Beetlejuice, provides the chaotic comedy that fans expect, the junior version of the show focuses heavily on the journey of Lydia Deetz. The story follows a teenager who is struggling to find her place in a new home until she encounters a recently deceased couple and a mischievous bio-exorcist.
The Mauldin Youth Theatre’s take on the show emphasizes themes of family, finding where you belong, and embracing your own unique quirks. The production features the show’s most popular hits, including The Whole Being Dead Thing and Day-O (The Banana Boat Song), reimagined for a youth ensemble.
