Your blueprint for success
The trouble with many of us is easily understood.
We rarely write anything down. Almost never.
I learned that hard lesson years ago.
Now I list everything. That means everything.
Going to the grocer’s? I make a list.
Going on vacation. I make a list.
Where we’re going. What to pack. Etc., etc.
Starting a new business. Offering a new product.
I make a plan . . . and a list.
I no longer trust my memory.
Nor do I fly by the seat of my pants.

I am one of the world’s oldest neophytes.
I learn some thing new every day.
I learned a new strategy the other day.
It’s how to get rid of unwanted thoughts?
Write them down and throw the paper away.
Research shows that this works.
Students were asked to write about their bodies.
The thoughts could be positive or negative.
Half were told to tear up and discard the paper.
Then they were asked to rate their attitudes.
Those who kept the paper were influenced by it.
Those who tossed it were not.
They were asked to list thoughts on a computer.
Then asked to drag the file to the trash.
The same effects were seen.
They were less influenced by negative thoughts.

Researchers also found out something else.
Keeping the paper in a pocket influenced judgment, This could be a useful plan for good thoughts.

Years ago I learned another mental technique.
It’s how to deal with injustice and pain.
It’s easy to do and costs absolutely nothing.
Write the person who hurt or treated you badly.
Write that you forgive them for what they did.
Then destroy the forgiveness note.
You don’t have to send it to them.
But by forgiving them, you banish the pain.
